At IPM, we focus on prevention. We blend the best from all systems of healthcare including Western Medicine, Eastern Medicine and Functional Medicine.
Functional Medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual. The Functional Medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that addresses the underlying causes of disease and promotes optimal wellness with a focus on prevention. By addressing the root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners become oriented to identifying the complexity of the disease.
Eastern Medicine such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda are styles of traditional medicine that are thousands of years old and includes various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture/acupressure/ marma, massage, exercise, and dietary therapy. Eastern Medicine is widely used in China and India where it has long been the standard system of medicine and is becoming increasingly popular and recognized worldwide (where it is primarily approached as alternative medicine). One of the basic tenets of Eastern Medicine is that the bodies’ energy circulates through channels, called meridians, that have branches connected to bodily organs and functions.
