Zubin Billimoria is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (A.P) and the only person in the field to have independently run demanding clinics of the eminent pulse-reading Guru, Dr. Shri Vasant Lad, in Pune, India. His unique life experiences & global client-base give him an unusual aptitude for rebalancing mind & body in chronic digestive-metabolic, musculo – skeletal, neurological, auto-immune, geriatric, psycho-somatic, and sexual dysfunction disorders.
Drawing on a lifetime of immersion in the 5500 years old Science of Ayurveda from the Indian subcontinent, he brings a distinctive approach to health, recovery, and nutrition as applicable to the United States.
Receiving his Ayurvedic Practitioner (A.P) qualification from the American University of Complementary Medicine (CA), he further continued studies through an intensive clinical internship at the D.Y.Patil College of Ayurved, Pune, India under the auspices of the International Ayurved Academy (IAA) founded by the distinguished Professor Emeritus Dr. Subhash Ranade. His fluency in multiple Indian languages, coupled with the knowledge of closely interwoven Indian mythology, lent itself to in-depth study of the major classical treatises, understanding essential nuances of cryptic Sanskrit writings of the Sages through commentaries of eminent regional scholars of India.
In 2015, he aced the prestigious Gurukul Program under the tutelage of the eminent pulse – reading master Dr. Vasant Lad of the Ayurveda Institute, and became the first student ever to be given independent charge of patients at Dr. Vasant Lad’s clinics in Pune. He undertook further studies in Yoga, Marma, Pránáyám, and in Ayurvedic Gynaecology.
Zubinji, as he is lovingly called, grew up on the outskirts of Bombay, in a day and age much different from today’s ‘modern’ India. His experiences with rural living close to nature, & the understanding of how life can have its cures wrapped within its ailments, deeply imbibed a sense of respect for nature’s healing powers. Immersion in yoga, mantras & meditation was a regular part of life; seasonal living in tandem with nature was just the norm.
Seeing much pain through personal life, he experienced first-hand the transformative action of Ayurveda in chronic diseases. Moving to the United States in 1998, he became acutely aware of the limitations of western medicine & healthcare. Deep cognizance of the pain and suffering in modern societies in spite of billions in research and technology, & driven by a desire to bridge the gap between the eastern and western paradigms of wellness, Zubinji moved from a lucrative life in ‘Information Technology & Business Consulting’ to the field of Ayurveda.
Zubinji believes that most modern day challenges have their solutions in classics written millennia ago in the Indian subcontinent. All that is required is the ability to view health and disease through a different paradigm, the humility of respecting what has steadfastly stood the test of time, respect for the universality of life, and the cognitive application of universal elemental theories developed millennia ago to life in current times. It is important to understand the psycho-somatic nature of disease, and endeavor not just towards a life devoid of illness, but one filled with effervescent joy and tranquil contentment at heart!
Zubinji has worked with people with a myriad range of diseases from chronic migraines, skin diseases like eczema & psoriasis, chronic digestive diseases including IBS/ UC/ Crohn’s, heart
problems like arrhythmias, tachycardia, congestive heart disease, urinary issues like
bladder & renal insufficiency, diabetes, hypertension. musculoskeletal diseases like arthritis, gout, fibromyalgia & CFS, and more. He works with a combination of Ayurved and Homeopathy, since each alternative modality has marked advantages in certain conditions and diseases.
